Experience Tasmania's wildside
Lake Pedder Chalet, a Tasmanian icon, is situated on the shores of Lake Pedder at Strathgordon in the south west national park, part of Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage area.
A comfortable 2.5 hour journey from Hobart on a sealed road provides the visitor with an opportunity to see some of the
most stunning scenery in the world.
Craggy mountain ranges, wild weather, dense rainforest,
button grass plains, views of the lake surrounded by sparkling
white sandy beaches, all provide the visitor with a once in a lifetime 'must do' experience.
Who we are
After visiting Strathgordon in early 2011, the Quarrier family were overwhelmed by the sheer splendour of the area and were dismayed to find the Chalet had been closed for several years.
They left with a vision for the Chalet and approached the owners, Hydro Tasmania, with a view to leasing their property. They are committed to providing simple, comfortable and warm accommodation in a wilderness World Heritage Area without compromising a high standard of service and, at the same time, recognising their social and environmental responsibilities.
